What Does OPA Do for Psychology and Psychologist?

OPA is YOUR professional organization where you as a psychologist, student, post doc can advocate for the profession, receive discounted CE's and be in the KNOW on issues impacting the advancement of psychology in our state.  OPA elected leadership works hard to provide strategic direction  for OPA as a key player in the legislative arenas, both state and federally.

While we work on behalf of our members, all psychologists in Oklahoma benefit from the work done by volunteer leaders and staff.  Engagement of all psychologists makes us a stronger more united front.  Join us today!

OPA works to serve the best interests of all Oklahoma Psychologists through numerous strategies advocating for mental health parity, and at times providing a “voice” for the Board of Examiners of Psychologists at the state legislature...especially if our law or if our law is threatened like the recent fight against the Health Information Exchange.  Together we can shape future issues related to master's level psychologist, EPPP2 and workforce development.

OPA strives to be the one stop shop for educational opportunities through on demand webinars, networking and ethics related CE workshops, while helping future post docs and students with mentoring opportunities as well as providing a forum for meeting other professionals.  Weekly during legislative session and four times a year, the Oklahoma Psychologist Newsletter is published which informs members of the organizations activities as well as providing important information. We encourage you to join us today!

A survey conducted over the last five plus years revealed that OPA members wanted protection at the state level by representation of a lobby team.  OPA has two lobbyists providing expertise and protection.  OPA was integral to the passage of PSYPACT legislation, protection from Health Information Exchange connections and fees,  telehealth advancements,  licensing reciprocity and more.  OPA is continuing to fight to not be discriminated against in the state’s physician definition.  We firmly believe that “Practice and Parity” are important to ALL psychologists in Oklahoma.
