Synopsis 

The presentation will provide an overview of the purpose, framework and coverage of the HIE, the approved emergency rules surrounding broad based exemptions, connection fee assistance, and provider incentive directed payments for those who connect and utilize the HIE.  These directed payment incentives can result in a significant reimbursement increase for the provider types listed below.  CLICK HERE FOR THE PROVIDER INCENTIVE DIRECTED PAYMENT PROGRAM 

Providers eligible for the directed payments include Advance practice nurse, mid-level practitioner, mental health provider and licensed behavioral health practitioners1, podiatrist, physician2,or anesthesiologist assistant.

1Behavioral Health Services by Mental Health professionals and Licensed Behavioral Health Practitioners at Community Mental Health Centers are excluded as they participate in a separate directed payment program

2Services rendered by state employed or contracted physicians are excluded as they participate in a separate directed payment program

After this presentation the attendee will be able to; 

1.      Identify the expectation of providers defined within SB 1369 for HIE participation. 

2.      Recognize the clinical impact of care fragmentation. 

3.      Understand current HIE Coverage and Capabilities 

4.      Outline the benefits of reviewing HIE data prior to treatment. 

5.      Describe the steps necessary to participate in the HIE.
